It's a tradition. Friday January 1st, 2010 join us for the annual new Years Day ride.

Ride Alert!!!!!!!!  Event Alert!!!!!!!  Ride Alert!!!!!!!!

Weather forecast has been looked at.  Start location for the ride has been confirmed. Gene is getting his butts ready. Are you ready to eat some Pulled Pork, Black eye peas and some of that famous Gene’s collards then come one come all for a New Years day feast at Parkway Harley-Davidson. We will be riding out as a group at 11:30am from the Ingles on Brevard Rd. Address is 863 Brevard Rd. Take exit 33 off I26 and go towards the mall or Ryan’s, Ingles is about a ¼ mile on the right. We will arrive as a group at Parkway between 12:30 and 1pm. Gene will have the vittles cooked and will serve from 12:30 to 3:30pm, so if you can not ride then come in a cage, but come to this great New Years event. Bring a dessert and your appetite. It is confirmed that we will have the event at the shop no matter the weather. The ride is planned and will happen on the bike or in a cage, but IT IS ON no matter of weather!!!!!!

Our Annual Chapter Re-Up Party at Riceville Community Center (where the Christmas Party was) at 6:00 pm. When you first arrive you will re-new your membership then enjoy some great fellowship with your old friends and a few new friends as well. We will have door prizes for those who sign up so come one come all. We will be serving dinner but anyone who wishes to bring a dessert, please do. Darts at Fat Cats. 6:00pm. Fat Cats is located at 2345 Hendersonville Road in Arden, Sign up starts at 6:00 pm and the tournament starts at 6:30pm. Darts are free and so is the fun. Tim Martin will be taking care of the records of winners and losers. For those who have never been to Fat Cats, their sandwiches are really good.

The time for the LOH Planning meeting has been changed to 6:30 instead of 6:00, this way more of you can make the meeting. The meeting is still scheduled at Ryans on Brevard Rd., January 29th. Remember this meeting is to plan our activities for the year this way we will know when, where and what we are doing. Some of the topics for discussion will be progressive dinner, LOH picnic, fundraisers and recipients of our fundraiser If you cant make the meeting and have any ideas please email me (Robin) at LOH.SmokyMtnHog@gmail.com or call 828-242-3908. Freeze your Buns off Ride. First annual event sponsored by Parkway Harley-Davidson: We will ride as a chapter to this great event. The plan is to ride from a pin stop in Cherokee to a pin stop at Ghost Town Harley-Davidson then on home to Parkway. Three pins, three great reasons to ride and have fun. Let the ride begin in 2010! More information to follow on this event.

Chapter Meeting Biscuits and gravy served from 9:30 to 10am at Parkway Harley-Davidson. General meeting starts at 10am.  Ladies-of-Harley meeting after the general membership meeting will be up stairs in the conference room.  Then join lead man Charles Swanger and sweeper Mike Eveland for the second annual ride south.  We will be doing a chapter ride after the LOH meeting. Noon time is scheduled departure time. Weather for this ride will be a real game time temp and rain at noon will be the test not 10am. We plan to ride into mystic lands, pass through areas that the Last of the Mohicans once stood. At our rest stop we will play cards, one eyed jacks gets you a free lunch. Then head south raiding South Carolina taking in some great vittles. We will then sneak up the back side of the mountain back into North Carolina and finish the ride by the Cracker Barrel in Hendersonville.

Easter Sunrise Service ride to Chimney Rock for the Easter Sunrise Service. This is a great view and a chapter tradition. Meet at Ingle's on US 74 in Fairview at 4:30 a.m. Hendersonville group can meet us at the intersection of US74 & US64 at 5am. Gary Aiken will be leading and Charles Swanger sweeping.

Chapter meeting and Ladies of Harley Soup cook off. Join your friends for what will be a great meeting as we kick off the riding season HOG style. Coffee and donuts from 10am to 10:30, followed by meeting at 10:30am, with the seasonal soup cook off at 11:30am. Head Road Captain Patrick Denton is asking for everyone to bring your bike. May be a short ride after the festivities?

70th Annual Spring CHDDA Rally
Historic New Bern, located at the confluence of two rivers, is the second oldest town in North Carolina.
One of its many features is the picturesque downtown waterfront district and New Bern is only a 30 minute motorcycle ride to the beaches.
When: May 14-15, 2010
Friday, May 14th 10:00 a.m. 10:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 15th 10:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.
* Saturday evening the rally will move to downtown New Bern for a Block Party with live bands and many streets designated to motorcycles only.

Chapter ride to the Dragon.

Meet at the J & S Cafeteria located in the West Ridge Market Place in the city of Enka. Kick stands up at 9:30am. We will ride to the dragon as a group stopping at the resort. There, we will split into smaller groups and ride the Dragon. We will ride through the Dragon and come back to the resort for lunch. Anyone interested in going on this ride should remember that this ride is not for new riders. Any one wanting to go but not sure should check with the chapter’s Head Road Captain Patrick Denton at goliathspirit@yahoo.com, or call him at 828-230-5712. If you would like to go with the group, but do not want to ride the Dragon, you may do so. The ride to the Dragon is fun and a great ride, so join us for a great ride with your friends to one of the number one riding spots in the South East. Mike Eveland will lead the ride and Dennis Weaver will be sweeping it up.

The Monkey Ride

Chapter ride to the Columbia, SC Zoo this is a closed event (Chapter Members & 1 guest). The ladies of Harley will be paying $5.00 toward the purchase of each ticket, if we have a group of 15 or more your cost will be $3.00 if we have less than 15 your cost will be $4.75. The ride leaves (kickstands up)  Ingles on Brevard Road at 8:30am then we will stop at upper Rd in Hendersonville we will leave there at about 9:00 then on to the Zoo for fun, some of us might actually see some of our lost relatives there.

TOM POSS & RUSS REDDICK MEMORIAL RIDE TO ROLLING THUNDER

Memorial Day 2010 is on Monday, May 31st and the Rolling Thunder parade will take place on Sunday, May 30th, 2010. Our departure is planned for Thursday, May 27th and unlike past years we will not be departing from the Buncombe County Schools Administrative Office. Instead we will depart from the Weaverville Lowe's parking lot at an earlier time than before. That time will be determined in consultation with each of you.

Annual Ladies of Harley Picnic and chapter Meeting

Will be held at Lake Julian Park in the Hendersonville Road entrance, which is one block south of Volvo 3 blocks south of Long Shoals Road This is an open event so you can bring your family and friends if you like. This special ride will leave from the dealership and Kickstands up at 10:00am. There will be an exciting ride lead by Shirley Weaver (with Dennis shifting) through some beautiful winding roads to the park. There we will be having our chapter meeting at 11am followed by the picnic starting at 12pm. We will be having baby back ribs, corn on the cob, potato salad, Cole slaw watermelon, and games. So come out for some fellowship and fun!!! Everyone that is interested in this event the cost is $10.00 for adults and $6 for children. If you do not want to eat, you can come for just the meeting. Make your plans to ride with Dennis Weaver and Larry Rhoads to Roan Mountain. Enjoy far reaching mountain vistas, beautiful rhododendrons in bloom and curvy mountain roads. Kick stands up 9am. The group will leave from the Lowes Parking lot in Weaverville. This is just off I26 at the hwy 25/70 exit going towards Marshall. Plan to return between 4pm and 5pm that afternoon.

H.O.G. Million Mile Monday will be a chapter ride. We will track our way through four states before landing in New Port Tenn. To pick up the Patriot flag. From there we will escort the flag to Parkway HD. More to follow on this great day to ride. Be apart of HOG’S biggest ride day of the year. Mike Eveland will lead. There has been a change: kick stands up 9am from the parking lot of Lowes in Weaverville. This is just off I26 at the hwy 25/70 exit going towards Marshall.

Maggie Valley Rally - Maggie Valley, NC: This is the chapters biggest event of the year and our chapters fund raiser. Chapter member volunteers are needed so please plan to attend at least one day of this fun event. We will have dinner for volunteers on Friday night as well as for Saturday night this year to thank each of you that help out. Event Categories

Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. chapter members. There are three categories of activities, all activities are identified as follows:

Closed events are those chapter events which are open to chapter members and one guest per member.

Member events are events that are open only to our Chapter H.O.G. members.

Open events are those chapter events which are open to chapter members, national H.O.G. members and other guests as desired.

If you are interested in becoming a H.O.G. chapter member, come to one of our monthly meetings. We'll be glad to answer your questions. You may also check at the Gene Lummus Harley-Davidson dealership for more information.
